This morning members of Energy Services volunteered to litter pick along Nottingham Canal.
The 1km stretch running parallel to London Road produced 22 bags of litter. Some of the more unusual items found were, a whole roasted chicken carcass and a shoebox with just the one shoe inside it. Litter of all kinds pose a threat to local wildlife along the canal and can lead to death so it is important to dispose of your rubbish as safely as possible.
Around 80% of the plastic in our oceans comes from litter dropped inland. As part of the Nottingham City Council Plan 2019-2023 the council is committed to removing all single use plastic internally.
